Zero Point Gracie Jiu Jitsu proudly represents Master Rickson Gracie. Our head instructor Chris Burns is a black belt under Professor Jason Roebig who in turn represents Axis Jiu Jitsu Academy founded in Tokyo, Japan by Rickson Gracie black belt Takamasa Watanabe. We proudly preserve the martial art of Gracie Jiu Jitsu with regular visits to personally train with master Rickson himself. Our curriculum revolves around our monthly visits and a solid base of fundamentals.

Zero Point GJJ strives to maintain a high level of technique and camaraderie at all of its clubs throughout the world, and is internationally known for its high standards of instruction and technicality.

BEGINNERS

Gracie Fundamentals is our beginners self defense program for adults. In this program, you will learn 46 techniques of Gracie Jiu Jitsu. Each one-hour lesson addresses one standing and one ground technique, which are broken down into simplified drills to facilitate the learning process. You can start the program at any time and participate in any class without previous experience and, since safety is our number one concern, there is no competitive sparring in these classes.

  • Choosing the right Jiu Jitsu class can make a significant difference in your training journey. Start by considering the gym’s reputation, the quality and experience of the instructors, and the class structure. Look for a school that matches your goals, whether you're aiming for fitness, self-defence, or competitive training. It's also essential to visit the gym, meet the instructors, and observe a class to ensure it aligns with your expectations. That’s why we offer a free trial, so you can experience our classes firsthand and find the perfect fit for your needs. Ultimately, the best class is one where you feel motivated, supported, and challenged to grow.

  • We advise attending a minimum of two classes per week to sustain your skills and three classes per week to develop and enhance them. When initially beginning, we suggest starting with two classes a week to allow your body time to adjust to the physical demands. Though this might seem modest to the average practitioner, it's the gradual and consistent approach we recommend for long-term progress.

  • Our basics classes last for one hour, with no more than ten to fifteen minutes allocated to sparring. In contrast, our advanced classes extend to an hour and a half, featuring around thirty minutes of sparring. It’s also not uncommon for advanced classes to include one-hour sparring sessions. This structure ensures a balanced approach, allowing beginners to build foundational skills while providing advanced practitioners with ample time to refine their techniques through extended sparring.

  • Every child is unique, and there isn't a strict rule about when they will be "ready" to begin training. However, we generally recommend starting Jiu Jitsu at around the age of 5. This age typically provides a good balance of physical coordination and mental readiness, allowing children to engage effectively in training and enjoy the benefits of Jiu Jitsu.
